Nail Technician

Job Description:

Commission plus 20% gratuity

Job Summary:

The Nail Technician performs professional nail, hand and foot treatments. They must possess a thorough knowledge of the nails, including a basic knowledge of hand and foot massage techniques and a neat application of polish. They must possess excellent cleanliness and sanitation skills and be willing to train in our spa’s specific nail service offerings. They must possess excellent communication skills and be able to learn the product and service knowledge necessary to effectively provide beauty solutions to meet the needs of our members/guests. They must hold and maintain a current state license.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Be on time and in your uniform for your shift, prompt with each appointment and perform services within the appropriate time allotted for the service.
  • Provide consistent professional nail, hand and foot treatments in accordance with spa protocols and accepted certification practices.
  • Be flexible with your schedule, supporting the needs of the spa.
  • Properly care for equipment and use proper amounts of product to assist with cost controls.
  • Have complete knowledge and understanding of all services and products while educating and training members/guests in these areas.
  • Actively promote home care programs, meeting minimum retail sales goals.
  • Uphold the standards of sanitation and sterilization as directed by law and the spa’s policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for completing tickets daily. Tickets must include client’s full name, client’s ORC member/guest number, service performed, date and time of appointment, nail technician’s name and ID number, 19% gratuity and amount for service.
  • Perform prep work and properly clean and restock work area as required.
  • Communicate to management any and all occurrences involving staff or members/guests in the spa that require attention.
  • Actively promote the spa, treatments, services, sessions and retail, as well as programs, promotions and/or discounts available.
  • Handle members/guests’ questions and concerns professionally and courteously.
  • Provide accurate, appropriate and immediate responses to all requests by members/guests ensuring complete guest satisfaction.
  • Possess ability to work without direct supervision.
  • Maintain a positive attitude and contribute toward a quality work environment.
  • Regularly attend, participate in and support training and staff meetings for the spa.
  • Assist in all areas of spa operation as requested by management.

Position requirements:

  • Must have enthusiasm and possess excellent customer service skills.
  • Enjoy working with people and possess a friendly and outgoing personality.
  • Excellent communication and listening skills, as well as basic computer knowledge.
  • Must be a team player.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Nail Technicians education required; cosmetology license preferred.
  • Must hold and maintain a State of Florida cosmetology license or nail technicians’ license.
  • Minimum of two to three years experience preferred.

Attendance, Appearance and Conduct:

Regular attendance in conformance with the standards, which may be established by Ocean Reef Club from time to time, is essential to the successful performance of this position. Associates with irregular attendance will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.

Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry and report deadlines, associate may be required to work varying schedules to meet the business needs of the Club and report deadlines.

Proper grooming is required by all associates and is described in detail in the Associates Handbook. Associates should review this policy and make sure that at all times they present themselves for shifts looking clean, neat and professional.

As a condition of employment, all associates agree to fully comply with Ocean Reef Club rules and regulations for the safe and efficient operation of Club facilities. Associates who violate Club rules and regulations will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.
