    Marathon Middle/High School is seeking a music teacher for the 2024-2025 school year. Start Date: August 5, 2024.
    We are seeking to build a marching band program. Additional opportunites exists for choir, jazz band, steel drums, and guitar.

    Salary: Base Salary ranging from $61,500-$101,700, commensurate with experience. Details provided in the attachment.

    Eligibility forFlorida certificationis required.     .How to Become FL Certified in Music (Grades K-12):

    1. Out-of-State Certification: If you hold an unexpired, out-of-state, professional educator certificate in this subject area, please apply for Florida reciprocity.
    2. Music Major: Commonly accepted bachelor&#39s (or higher degree) majors for a Florida temporary educator certificate include:Applied Music, Instrumental Music, Music, Music Education, Piano or other major instrument, Vocal Music, Voice, Composition (music), Percussion.
    3. Other Majors: For other degree majors, passing the FTCE Subject Area Exam in Music K-12 is required. This computer based test is 80 multiple-choice questions and 2.5 hours. Free sample questions are available here. Visit the testing website http://www.fl.nesinc.com/tests.aspfor further details. Locate a test center. If at first you don&#39t succeed, you may retest every 30 days. The exam costs $150, unless you have an approved Military Vet or Spouse Certification Fee Waiver or Retired First Responder Fee Waiver.
