- Other Majors: For other degree majors, passing the FTCE Subject Area Exam in Biology 6-12 is required. This computer based test is 80 multiple-choice questions and 2.5 hours. If at first you don't succeed, you may retest every 30 days. The exam costs $150, unless you have an approved Military Vet or Spouse Certification Fee Waiver or Retired First Responder Fee Waiver.
